Despite often being used interchangeably, Antiperspirant and Deodorant are actually quite different. Make sure you know the differences between each formula so you're using the right one for you!
We do a deep dive on this topic in our blog post Antiperspirant and Deodorant: What's Actually the Difference? Sweat Facts | Life at the Helmm. But, if you want the cliff-notes, see below.
Antiperspirant: Antiperspirant is designed both to limit sweat and block body odor for long-lasting protection. It utilizes an active ingredient to help stop perspiration as well as control body odor.
Helmm's Antiperspirant & Deodorant comes in a white, opaque stick, and is Paraben-Free, Phthalate-Free, Triclosan-Free, Talc-Free, and Sulfate-Free. Designed for powerful pit protection, our Antiperspirant is Clinically Tested, Non-Irritating, and Dermatologist Approved.
You should wear Antiperspirant if...
- I typically have visible sweat if I don’t apply an Antiperspirant or Deodorant
- I typically smell if I don’t apply an Antiperspirant or Deodorant
- I go to the gym frequently, or am otherwise very active
- I usually have long work days (9+ hours)
- I have visible “pit stains” from time to time
- I sometimes get body odor (don’t worry – totally normal!)
- I typically apply an Antiperspirant or Deodorant several times a day
- I sweat when I get anxious or nervous
- I sometimes start sweating after drinking too much coffee or eating spicy food
Deodorant: Deodorant is designed to mask body odor, and does not provide the same sweat reducing capabilities as Antiperspirant.
Helmm's Deodorant comes in two options: Sport Deodorant and Natural Deodorant (see the difference here). They are both Paraben-Free, Phthalate-Free, Triclosan-Free, Talc-Free, and Sulfate-Free, as well as Gluten-Free, Cruelty-Free, Clinically Tested, Non-Irritating, and Dermatologist Approved.
You should wear Deodorant if...
- I don’t really sweat that much (lucky you)
- I usually only have to apply deodorant once a day (sometimes less)
- I am extremely conscientious about the ingredients in my personal care products
- I care deeply about organic and natural ingredients
- I don’t mind being sweaty, it’s just the body odor that bothers me
